Project Demo is a tool that engages young people, helping them bring about change within their communities.
Project Demo is an initiative by Livity Africa designed to amplify the voices of young South Africans. The project generates awareness about key issues facing youth, then encourages research and action to start social justice campaigns addressing the issues and creating change. The online platform provides background information about the campaigns, allows users to scroll through campaign timelines, browse media coverage, ask questions, and submit new issues they would like to see turned into campaigns on the site.
I was principally responsible for developing the project's interactive online platform, working closely with the client from idea development to deployment of the final product. I developed a wireframe, refined the idea, then worked closely with the creative team to finalize branding and outline the platform's desired look and feel. Finally, I developed, tested, and deployed the website and provided back-end training to ensure the team can update and manage the site as needed.
The portal was built on top of the Django framework, is mobile-first, and features a vibrant and energetic design to appeal to the young target audience.
